August the Twenty-Sixth
Chief Jeff Doth Propensify:
"Jagged and smoothed.
Being gentle and moving quietly in a peaceful place smoothes a person. This is like being a precious stone that is continually caressed by a soft cloth or water. This type of change takes long, but it is gentle and it makes the stone shiny and smooth to the touch.
Sometimes we are struck by force with something like a maul, hammer, or wedge. These events create jagged edges. Losing someone to death, getting into an accident, becoming an unsuspecting victim: These events put sharp edges on us.
Jagged edges are the scars of pain. We cannot entirely avoid these no matter how gently we live. They are the product of living in a world where physical things and people are real.
Smoothing the stone takes patience and faith. It takes acceptance, “long-suffering,” and focus on the other fruits of the spirit:
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
People who cause jagged scars are jagged themselves. These people are obsessed with the self and their own best interests. They do not see the impact they make upon others.
Gentle people are smooth, and their influence upon others gives comfort and trust.
Losing genuine people who have light, talent, and innocent gentleness really hurts. This is what I am learning from Zen.
Wonder about all of the magnificent people who were alive throughout history that most other humans will never know. The small is actually large. The unknown center makes everything happen as it should.
What is the individual’s point when we are all so inherently separated?
This is a private journey.
We cannot attach to anything.
We just travel through this experience according to our personal Way.
Our nature is innocence.
If we lose ourselves to “The World” (primarily the 7 deadly sins), then we lose our true nature.
We MUST be separate from “The World” to be true."
